Sunset

O sunset scene before the homely door,

The crying babe, the sick, the lame, the poor.

But see  the lifeless foot that never trod,

Plant firmly down before the  Son of God!

From eyes perpetual night forever chained;

The glorious ruby glow has now obtained.

And then to him who never sound had heard,

The sweet and plaintive twitterings of the

evening bird.

Triumphant scene that never man had known

And angel’s wings tipped with the

last bright gleam,

Enact before God’s throne the

glorious scene.

And all Heaven sounds an endless chord

O Glory, Glory, Glory to our Heavenly Lord.

Enraptured, sound again the long

AMEN!

For Christ the Lord is dwelling

there with men!
